I will assume everyone knows what a Kahoot is. If you would like to use it in your Microsoft Teams classroom environment, here is a short tutorial on how to use it as you would in your classroom or alternatively as an assignment. See the embedded video below. Thanks to Mike Tholfsen.
This Kahoot like online trivia game has several topics including: Cities, Flags, Timeline, Science, Places, Facts, Estimation, Sports, People/Things, Temperature, Math in Head and Entertainment. You are given a game ID that you share with your class. To see the website click here.
Do you use Kahoot? If so making questions and answers up can be a pain sometimes especially if you have the questions and answers already in a spreadsheet. Well a couple of weeks ago Kahoot has added spreadsheet imports. Read below what their site said.
"Being able to import kahoot questions from a spreadsheet has been one of our top feature requests of all time. Tada! Your wish comes true as we introduce our new spreadsheet import feature. Use our template and save your kahoot questions in .xlsx format – then it takes just seconds to add them to a new kahoot you’re creating. This will dramatically cut the time needed to create kahoots, as well as help you combine questions and answers from several spreadsheets into one kahoot!"
Details on how to use the spreadsheet option can be found by clicking here.
I first blogged about Purpose Games in 2016, but this is a new school year and I thought you might want to see this to start the first week back at school. Many of you use Kahoot. Kahoot is great. However Purpose Games might give you some other options. There are many premade games that can be used in Math, Science and Geography to name a few. To see a basic Algebra game that is timed and would be great for a review click here. A game to label the main bones of the skeleton can be found by clicking here. To see a plant cell game click here. To see a Fruits in Spanish game click here. To see a Great Gatsby vocab game click here. The search box in the top right hand corner is your friend to find games that are already made. You can also make up your own games and be a hero.
Many of you have used Kahoot. If you never have, then read about it by clicking here. Now Kahoot has a team mode which allows you to enter a team name as well as individuals and you will have more time to answer so your group members can discuss before answering. Check out their main site by clicking here.
I know some of you use Kahoot to play quiz games with your class on their devices or for a formative evaluation on how your class is doing on different topics. Quizalize awards points for answering questions correctly and quickly. You can specify an amount of time on every question. Of obvious interest to teachers can be found on the results page where you can see which questions gave students the most trouble. To see the website click here.
Have you ever played one of those trivia games in a restaurant (one with a license for adult beverages). Time ticks down and you have only 4 or 5 choices. You get scored on how quick you answer. Well Kahoot is a way to teach and learn with a phone or tablet using game based pedagogy.
You need to register but it is free. To see the site click here. Maybe everyone in your class does not have a smart phone but I am sure you could do this in groups where at least one student has a phone or mobile device.
