Fling the teacher - review quiz generator

I hope you had a good weekend.  As always classtools has some great little "apps" for your classroom.  As a teacher you can easily build a 15 question multiple choice quiz.  If the students get it all correct they get to catapult the "Angry Bird" with your picture on it.  They have 60 seconds to try and launch you into a hole in the ground.  When you go to this app there is a default example.  If you want to build your own and you will, go to the link on the bottom left of the page.  To see the app click here.

Fog, lasers turn math class into "escape room"

Here is an article and short video about a math teacher using escape room with some bells and whistles to make an interesting math classroom.  This might be a really good idea for a review exercise.  To see the article click here.  For some more ideas on escape rooms click here.

Purpose Games

Image result for purposegames logo

I first blogged about Purpose Games in 2016, but this is a new school year and I thought you might want to see this to start the first week back at school.  Many of you use Kahoot.  Kahoot is great.  However Purpose Games might give you some other options.  There are many premade games that can be used in Math, Science and Geography to name a few.  To see a basic Algebra game that is timed and would be great for a review click here.   A game to label the main bones of the skeleton can be found by clicking here.  To see a plant cell game click here.  To see a Fruits in Spanish game click here.  To see a Great Gatsby vocab game click here.  The search box in the top right hand corner is your friend to find games that are already made.  You can also make up your own games and be a hero.

Interactive Periodic Table Game

ABPI puts out many interactive resources that can be used in school.  Here is an interactive periodic table game that could be used as a review for your students.  I have posted about this previously.    According to their website, "The interactive Periodic Table helps you learn about elements and their properties in a fun way. The game can be played at a variety of levels of difficulty and in several different ways. It can be played against the clock or competitively by one or more people.  Use the information provided to help you place the element in its correct position."  To see the game click here.  I also have posted about other periodic websites.  To see them just use the search box in the top left corner and type in "Periodic Table" or anything else you would like to search.

Dustbin

This is a nice little review quiz maker for your students to play.  You can find this by clicking here.
I have prepared a little video on how to use this tool.  I think this would be great to use on a classroom webpage or on your classroom blog.  Maybe students could make up their own as a review for the class as part of their evaluation.

Memrise

Memrise is a tool to learn many different subjects.  It is part flash cards for review or learning.  It is part quiz.  I like this tool.  There a many premade categories with subtopics ranging from languages to science, math, history etc.  You can even make your own.  For example I looked under languages and found Ukrainian.  There are many science ones.  For example there was one on parts of the cell which fits in nicely with grade 9 science.

Here are the terms the student can learn.  Then when you start it will give you one term with a definition then when you are ready you will get a second term and its definition.  After that you will be quizzed.  More terms and more quizzing.  You get the picture.
Some of the slides I saw included pictures, pronunciation and sound.  There are many uses for the class room educator.  First students can go on there own to review.  Even better there is Memrise for Teachers.  Memrise for Teachers allows you to add students to your account.  You can then assign review material for them and track their progress.  To go to the Memrise site click here.  To go to the Memrise for Teachers site click here.

Jenga Review

From Flapjackeducation
This would be great for a review at the end of a unit.  It really does not need to be math.  You could make up review questions and then packing tape them to the Jenga blocks.  The QR codes could be made easily from many different sites.  See my post on February 22 2013 by clicking here.   You need a website to host the solution that QR links to but our board has free webspace for all teachers or you could use a free easy service like Tackk.  You do not have to register with Tackk but your pages expire after seven days.  Better to just register for free.  Another way would be to set up a free blog at blogspot.com and just put in a bunch of posts, where each post is an answer.  Each of these posts would have a unique URL.  Just a thought.

To play.  There are several different ways. One way to play would be to have the team/person who gets a wrong answer to keep pulling blocks.  If you are correct, the other team goes.  Whoever drops the stack loses.  I am sure you can come up with other ways of playing.

The QR codes are just to keep you, the teacher, out of the loop of being asked if they are right or not.
