Learning strategies for the new normal

Chloe Baird states in her article in informED, "The COVID-19 pandemic taught us, if nothing else, that things are not as impossible as they seem. Teachers found ways to convert their lessons into an online format. Students grew used to learning online. While the ride has been far from smooth, and the rapid transition for many physical classrooms into an online environment has been difficult, the Australian education system was able to adapt and pivot in record time."  To read the full article click here.

Four Ideas to Spark Active Learning in an Online Classroom

This article by Adrianna Davis will give you some ideas to think about for your online class.  I cover Mr J's 4U chemistry class every day so he can get a 70 minute break.  I usually pop in 5 minutes early and he usually goes over 5 or 10 minutes so I get a chance to see his virtual teachings.  He really uses the first item in the article, polling.  I believe it gives him quick feedback. The second item, letter to future students, my wife uses in here Physed class as part of her final summative evaluation.  To see the article click here.
