Is Data Science the New Coding?

Nadia Tamez-Robledo believes the math curriculum needs to change to allow for schools to teach data science.  She states, "When was the last time you needed to calculate the height of a flag pole? Or even thought about the word “numerator”? Compare that to the last time you had to use Excel or make a decision based on data."  To read the full article click here.  If you are Canadian and making any amazon.ca purchase please click on my links below first.  Thanks.

How best do we teach kids about Holocaust horrors?

Jennifer Rich, Michael Haley Goldman and Sara Pitcairn wrote an article in The Hechinger Report that suggests the best way to teach kids about the Holocaust is to show them what it was like by using virtual and augmented reality.  To read the article click here.

Quizlet

I have posted about Quizlet several times ( click here ) .  I noticed Tech & Learning had an article about Quizlet.  They state "Quizlet is a superb way to work on memory-based learning. Not only does it offer lots of pre-built quiz options, or story sets as these are known, but it also allows teachers to make their own. Easily shared, these can work well in class, for homework, or during remote learning.

Quizlet even features games such as Live mode or Gravity, which can deeply engage students in a way that promotes learning with ease. Getting the most out of the app is down to how you use it, which is why you're in the right place to do just that."  To see the article click here.

How Can You Use TikTok For Learning?

Well I could not stay away for too long.  Yes I am retired but I enjoyed posting something everyday so I will continue.  Maybe not every day during the summer but I will try.  Terry Heick posted an article about using Tik Tok in the classroom.  I am not big on social media but for some of the savior teachers might enjoy this and definitely some students will.  To see the article click here.
