From the popular Ted Ed series of videos I noticed this video on Carbohydrates and how they impact your health by Richard J. Wood. It might be good for your Foods or Health Science class. The video is embedded above and if you are a teacher the Ted Ed page has 5 multiple choice questions under the topic Think on the right hand side as well as some more resources under Dig Deeper also on the right hand side of the webpage. March Reading Madness 2016 and the Sweet Sixteen
The brackets have been set and will be announced on Monday.
The top 4 books taken out will be the one seeds in each of the 4 regions and will be playing books 13-16 (which are the four seeds). The middle books make up the 2 and 3 seeds in each of the 4 regions. The seeding is based on the number of times a book has been taken out of the library. If a book has been taken out 40 times and it is playing a book that has been taken out 10 times for example then the higher seeded book has a 40 out of 50 chance of winning. This will be done using a random number generator. I will post a picture on Monday of the Sweet Sixteen.

Inquiry Based Learning
An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked beside him. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding. The man and the boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.
Later, they passed some people who remarked "What a shame! He makes that little boy walk." They then decided they would both walk.
Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So they both rode the donkey.
Now they passed some people who shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned.
The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, you might as well kiss your @$$ goodbye.
This story came to me from A. J. Juliani's website in the article "How to survive in the era of personalized education." The article speaks of choice and inquiry based learning. To see the article click here.

Pop/Folk Culture in Ghanaian Coffins
The Guardian ran an article showing some pictures of Ghanaian coffins. They are something that we would never see in Canada. The people of Ghana celebrate death in a much different way of honouring their dead than we do. Take a look at some of very interesting coffins by reading The Guardian article by clicking here. Seth Dixon had an interesting take on this, see below.
